Extract the ZIP and move APE Viewer to Applications. macOS Keychain must be available for protected sign-in and pairing keys. This preview has an ad hoc integrity signature, not a Developer ID signature or notarization. If macOS or Keychain refuses it, keep the protection enabled and report the problem. Intel Macs are not included.
Extract the archive and read its README for your distribution's required packages, then run ./apeviewer from the extracted folder. Use a normal signed-in desktop with an unlocked Secret Service keyring such as GNOME Keyring. X11 clipboard is supported; Wayland clipboard is not yet available. The archive does not install a system service or configure your firewall.

The Mac and Linux previews dynamically link FFmpeg under LGPL 2.1 or later and OpenH264 under its BSD source license. Notices, exact versions and build settings are included in each download. Matching library source and build material are available separately: Mac codec sources · Linux codec sources.
